This work package has the objective of establishing a general and specific framework considering the exact requirements and real needs of the final treatment in the two foreseen scenarios selected, upstream and downstream activities, paying special attention to reuse of treated wastewater.
Individual technology adaptation and prototype construction
This work package is based on the adaptation design and development of the individual wastewater construction of prototypes of each treatment technology as adapted for the application in the O&G sector, considering the characteristics of both the Produced Water and Refinery Wastewater, the technical characteristics and capabilities of each technology, the specifications of each technology to be followed by technologies implemented in the O&G sector, and the effluent quality requirements for the different water reuse scenarios.
Developement of the Decision Support System prototype for reuse applications.
This work package deals with designing integrated solutions in terms of water treatment technology, control develop and automation and industrialization for O&G PW and wastewater reuse and design and construct a pilot Decision Support System that integrates the operation of the previously developed technology prototypes.
Demonstration of Decision Support System in representative scenarios.
INTEGROIL project includes demonstration activities at two real scenarios with a long term application (24 months). To this end, one demonstration plant including the set of technologies mentioned will be designed and built in the framework of work package 4. The plant will have a capacity that is representative of full-scale facilities and will adjust automatically to conditions in the feed water in terms of operational parameters and process configuration at any given time. The configuration and operational parameters will be optimized through the Decision Support System in order to achieve the objectives of low energy consumption, low chemical consumption and high water efficiency.
Market preparation: normalization, exploitation and dissemination.
Generate generic and application-specific technical documents for the exploitation of technologies and integrated solutions: blueprints, control philosophies, HAZOPs and technical brochures.
Disseminate project results through relevant media: conferences, journals and technical events.
Prepare a realistic exploitation plan, which will include mainly the individual exploitation strategy of each partner, the strategy for exploiting the integrated solutions, and the activities to exploit project results for alternative applications and markets out of the ones considered within the scope of the project.
The aim of this work package is to identify from a sustainability standpoint, those solutions achieving the desired water purification levels while causing the lowest energy use, environmental impact, and cost. Furthermore, this work package will provide ‘eco-design’ recommendations in order to further reduce the environmental impact of the solutions proposed. To this end, a combined life cycle assessment (LCA) and life cycle costing (LCC) analysis will be carried out.
The principal aim is to monitor the project progress in terms of technical and administrative management among all partners as well as to provide timely and efficient organizational and financial coordination in order to meet contractual commitments.
